Well, not really. But now that I have your attention, you ARE my guest blogger today. Don't just pass through, leave a comment about a writing concern you have. I just posted this on Nancy's blog, but it seems appropriate here.
Do novelists ever use mindmaps to keep track of subplots, characters, interactions, etc.? My temperament is more suited toward short stories, I think, and it's hard for me to keep track of all the action going on in a larger project.
Just curious.
I suggest notecards, one for each scene of a larger project. With separate subplots or different character POVs, you might use different color cards. Easy on successive drafts to mix, move, and match. Test ideas and see the holes.
I've used idex cards, but somehow they don't work as well for me (hmm strange comment from someone unpublished). I'm quite comfortable moving "virtual" index cards around on line. But everyone needs a system that works for them.
